    Anders Hansen is an experienced percussionist and one of the founders of Oslo Sambaskole. Inspired by the samba schools of Rio and the energy of carnival, he helped build a community where both beginners and experienced musicians and dancers can share the joy of samba. Anders is also the mestre of bateria for Unidos de Oslo and musician in the group Churrasco na Braza, and behind the project Samba é Nois.

    Sebastian Merino is a skilled samba musician from Peru, living in Gothenburg. He has played Caixa with Abunda and held a number of workshops over many years. Sebastian has performed with samba groups all over Europe and studied with famous mestres from Rio de Janeiro. In addition, he is a singer and cavaco player, and regularly performs with Bloco X and Grupo Churrasco Na Brasa , where he is the lead vocalist and cavaco player. His teaching is characterized by precision, groove and a real passion for samba.

A full weekend dedicated to Caixa – from the first strokes to playing inside the bateria.

🥁 TECHNIQUE → SWING → BATERIA

Develop your technique, find the swing of samba, and learn how to play Caixa as part of the bateria.

Sat 10 Oct · 11:00–13:00 & 14:00–16:00

Sun 11 Oct · 11:00–13:00 & Bateria 13:00–16:00

🎯 CHOOSE YOUR LEVEL

Two levels – from complete beginners to experienced players developing their Caixa-technique further. The levels overlap in tempo – technique, control and experience determine your level.

🥁 LEVEL 1 – FUNDAMENTALS | 0–100 BPM

For beginners and players building their foundation. No experience required.

Learn grip, stroke and rebound, coordination, 16th notes, reto and swing – building towards playing with the bateria at 100 BPM.

🔥 LEVEL 2 – DEVELOPMENT | 80–120 BPM

For players with solid fundamentals who can maintain a steady Caixa pattern from around 80 BPM.

Develop technique, control, swing and endurance through different levadas from escolas de samba in Rio.
